American Farmland Trust LogoAmerican Farmland Trust’s The Women for the Land Initiative seeks to understand, engage and empower women farmland owners and women farmers to adopt environmentally sound farming practices, protect farmland, and enhance farm viability now and for the future.

While women are increasingly playing primary decision-making roles on farmland, and are inclined towards conservation, they are underrepresented in use of USDA and other conservation programs. With the support of a cooperative agreement with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), AFT is poised to work with stakeholders rooted in local communities to connect women landowners and farmers with key resource providers in their area who can help increase women’s implementation of conversation programs and land protection strategies.
